When it comes to seed hybrids and making the best choice for your farm, Chuck and Todd Runge have the expertise and experience necessary to select the right choices to result in premium yields.
For over 30 years, Chuck and Todd have partnered with Pioneer, the top leader in the seed industry, to offer products that maximize the productivity and profitability of every field by developing and testing products in the environment they are intended for. By understanding and continuously learning, we can work extremely close with our customers to best understand their needs and provide the best products.
With more than 300 unique, high-yielding corn hybrids and the patented Z Series soybeans that are the next generation in a long line of high-performing Pioneer varieties with strong agronomic and defensive traits, it is an obvious choice why Runge Farms partners with a premium company like Pioneer.
Pioneer brand products have industry-leading genetics that are ingrained with tested and trusted trait options, so our goal is simple and complex: Help growers like you place the right product on the right acre. With all crops, we know the products, the science and the lay of the land to help you select the right product for the right acre.
Every customer has unique wants and needs. Every farm has its own set of unique soils and management challenges. End users of grain require traits and qualities specific to their businesses. Since family farm values run deep with service as a foundation, we strive to understand and meet the needs of each customer.
We are farmers who have a passion for delivering value to our customers, so we work closely to help maximize every acre that is planted. We strive to build relationships by listening to customers, walking their fields, sharing technical resources and offering the best solutions for specific situations.
As technology continues to change and improve, so does the options for seed treatment in order to reducing stress, stimulate growth and bump yields. As a Pioneer Representative, we can offer Pioneer Premium Seed Treatment, which is a proprietary offering of biological, fungicide and insecticide treatments, that promote soybean growth and vigor. With a variety of options, we can help you ensure your seed investment is well covered when it needs it most.
Revolutionizing seed treatment application, the Gustafson RH 2000 is defined to continuously apply single or multiple products, simultaneously, to predefined quantities of seed, which is established through calibration.
Convenience and efficiency are the names of the game when it comes to offering the packaging and delivery options that work best for your operation. From PROBulk® systems for loose bulk seed delivery and direct delivery from the plant to PROBOX® containers and paper bags for finishing up a field … we can deliver to you safely, when and where you want it.
Pushing seed downstream to the customer is becoming more popular in the seed industry. This allows the growers to receive the seed before planting starts. When the planting window is closing, having seed on hand is a huge help! To make this possible, storage must always come with options.
At the seed and treatment facility, we have a beautifully finished 6300 square feet seed shed located in McLean, Illinois. It is in this facility where we are able to store the necessary PROBOX® containers and paper seed bags. Utilizing and maximizing the space we have is what makes our sales and service more efficient
Being a farmer means being a researcher. In this role, we have relied upon on-farm plot studies becoming an invaluable tool. They allow us to identify differences among ‘treatments’ under ‘real world’ conditions. These ‘treatments’ may be corn hybrids, fertilizer rates, plus or minus fungicide, seeding rates, tillage practices, etc. The ultimate variable of interest is usually grain yield. The ‘real world’ conditions contribute to additional yield variability allowing evaluation of the true ‘treatment’ effects.
In order for these on-farm trials aka test plots to provide useful information, two basic requirements need to be met to keep the integrity of the data. First, the trials have to be set up in a way that all the production variables (e.g. drainage, fertilizer, tillage, etc.) are kept constant across the plot, with the exception of the treatment (e.g. hybrids, fungicide, plant population, etc.) being tested. Second, to have confidence in the results generated, the trials have to be set up in a way that the data collected can be statistically analyzed. This is mostly code word for the need to replicate and randomize the trials. So we strive to achieve reaching these requirements in each of our test plots, so the data gathered can further enhance our future decisions.
As farmers, we must wear many hats throughout the year, which translates into being able to have a holistic approach to ensure sustainable agriculture. For crop management, we must consider the various situations across the whole farm enterprise, including socio-economic and environmental factors, to deliver the most suitable and safe approach for long-term benefits. This means carefully considering site selection, soil management, seed & planting material, crop rotation, crop nutrition, pest management, water management and landscape management that fit the local conditions and climate. We must create a dynamic system that adapts to changing conditions by combining local knowledge with new research and technologies. All of this is to be done with the idea of delivering sustainable agricultural production that safeguards a farm’s natural assets and surrounding community, now and in the future, while producing top yields.
